The dust has settled after the first-ever running of the SR9. The team are now back home and the car is on it’s way to Istanbul.

Tim Greaves drove the car on Sunday, and was very impressed. “The car is easy to drive, the handling is extremely precise, the brakes are awesome and the power-assisted steering is very accurate. At 185mph the car feels composed and there is no buffeting.”

Radical co-founder, Phil Abbott was also very pleased. “To be one second off Tommy Erdos in the RML Lola on our shake-down was extremely impressive. We matched their top speed of 294km/h and all the drivers raved about the car.

As you would expect, we had some small shake-down problems which limited us to about 100 laps, but once the Rollcentre team have worked on the car, there is a lot more time to come. It may take us a few tests to get reliability but I think that there can be little doubt that the SR9 in contention for P2 honours!

Once we have delivered Martin’s second car, we will be starting work on our AER-powered car, which is expected to be lighter and quicker still!”

Radical has sold the first four cars now at a ‘pre-proven’ price. Orders will now be taken at an increased price which is still expected to be the cheapest on offer.
