Philippines: Radical PH tastes success with SR1 at Batangas

Entering a pair of Radical Sportscars’ SR1 models, the factory supported team took a clean sweep of the three-event meeting, claiming outright victory in the Grid Race, Bracket Race and Track Attack competitions.

It was local ace Marlon Stockinger who claimed the major prize with a clean-sweep of pole position, fastest lap and the Grid Race win, driving the Motul PH-supported Radical SR1. The vehicle is also the demonstrator for Radical Cars Philippines, and wearing a newly unveiled Motul livery for the event, looked spectacular as it headed the field.

Stockinger is widely credited to be the fastest driver in the Philippines, and was the first Filipino racing driver to win an FIA-recognised Formula race in Europe, as well as serving time in the Lotus Formula 1 Team’s junior development squad.

Mike Consenheim made it a double-podium for the SR1, finishing in second place in the Grid Race, while taking outright victory in the Track Attack competition.

Sharing the same Radical SR1, Antonio Brias also took outright victory in the Bracket Race, sealing a truly successful weekend for Radical Cars Philippines.

The result at Petron Sparco Cup is just the beginning for the official importer to the Philippines of the Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, manufactured sports prototype racing cars. 2022 sees the debut of the inaugural Radical Challenge Philippines, which comprises six rounds each containing practise, qualifying, a pair of sprint races and an endurance race. The series will take in the local Batangas Racing Circuit and the FIA Grade 4-certified Clark International Speedway in Pampanga, north of Manilla. An impressive nine entries have already been received for the series, with the Radical SR1 and the larger, faster Radical SR3 set to take the flag.
