Blue Marble Radical Cup revs up for Road America and Barber

Back to the news

NASCAR confirms Mid-Ohio postponed, Radical working on replacement dates - Blue Marble Radical Cup North America drivers are now set start their 2020 season alongside IndyCar at the REV Group Grand Prix of Road America, June 18-21. This follows today’s announcement that the NASCAR Xfinity Series event, the Mid-Ohio 170, May 29-30 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will not occur as scheduled.

Mid-Ohio and NASCAR are working to identify a possible date later in the season, with Radical also investigating alternative dates with track management to see the Blue Marble Radical Cup series make its maiden visit to Mid-Ohio in 2020.
“Craig Rust and the entire Mid-Ohio team are extremely eager to host a Radical Cup round, and are working on a number of options, but we fully understand a rescheduled date is subject to the ongoing guidance and mandates of national, state and local authorities regarding public gatherings at the facility,” commented Tom Drewer, Radical Sportscars Regional Manager for North America.
Radical is also still working on a replacement date for the previously postponed Road Atlanta event, and while the start of the season has been set back another month, Drewer has confirmed it’s not only “all-go” for Road America, but also Barber Motorsports Park on July 31-Aug 2.
“Last year’s Road America event set a record for the largest starting grid of Radicals ever assembled in North America, while Barber and its Vintage Motor Museum is always a hit with our racers. We’re looking forward to getting back to Wisconsin, back to Alabama and back on track.”

In the meantime, Radical drivers will continue to race, albeit virtually, in the Radical Cup iRacing Invitational Series, which has already seen over 100 participants from around the world compete in Rounds 1 & 2, including a number of past and present Blue Marble Radical Cup drivers.
This weekend racers will take on Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, May 16, for Round 3 before heading to Mid-Ohio, May 23, Spa Francorchamps, June 6, and finally Road America, June 13, just one week before the real-life event takes place. Live broadcasts can be viewed via the pane below and Radical's YouTube channel and commence at 11am Eastern / 8am Pacific / 15:00 GMT.
