Radical Sportscars welcomes new Business Development Manager to sustain growth in 2022

Radical Sportscars is pleased to announce Dave Chapman as its Business Development Manager for its Radical Performance Engines and Radical Precision Engineering businesses, in a sustained expansion of its head office management team following the most successful year in its 25-year history.

The Cambridgeshire manufacturer of sports prototype racing cars has enjoyed unprecedented growth as it heads into its 25th year, building and selling more cars in 2021 than at any other time in its history. The Radical SR10 enjoyed its first full year of production and became the fastest-selling vehicle in Radical’s history, with close to 100 examples now sold.

While its race-winning sports cars often take the limelight, the business is also famous for its in-house engine development and production arm, Radical Performance Engines, and its contract engineering and development service, Radical Precision Engineering. The two divisions develop and produce the iconic engines that power Radical’s range, such as the legendary 2.7-litre macroblock V8 and the RPE-Ford EcoBoost found in the Radical SR10, from the same Cambridgeshire facility where the cars are produced.

Since its inception Radical has made its motorsport development and contract engineering expertise available to third parties, and the appointment of Dave Chapman is set to drive this segment of the business to new heights.

Dave is a qualified Mechanical Engineer, and has established himself as a trusted and respected Business Development Manager and Technical Sales Executive in the engineering sector, with extensive experience in motorsport, aerospace, automotive, and oil and gas exploration and extraction. Stints at Titan Motorsport and more recently ACSL Precision Engineering have seen Dave work in a business-to-business capacity with some of the largest names in the British automotive and motorsport sectors.

Dan Redpath, Radical Sportscars Group Sales and Marketing Director, is excited to work with Dave to develop this important part of the business further.

“Since our business was established 25-years ago Radical Sportscars has always fostered a true ingenuity only found in British motorsport, and we’re most famous on a global stage for our in-house and handbuilt 2.7-litre V8 macroblock racing engine capable of 10,500rpm. We offer these same services to other automotive, motorsport, and aerospace clients, and I am sure that Dave will become a great asset in helping us expand these services.

“Dave has had a brilliant career in the automotive engineering sector, and as a trained engineer himself, is able to converse with our internal team and those of our clients to deliver the best possible outcomes. 2021 was our most successful year in terms of vehicle production volume and sales, and with Dave’s help, we’re excited to reach the same successes with the other parts of our business.”

Dave Chapman, Radical Sportscars Business Development Manager, reiterates Dan’s comments.

“Everyone involved in British motorsport is well aware of Radical and what it has achieved on the track, and it’s a true privilege to join the business as they enter their 25th year.

“A lot of what we do in engineering often isn’t seen by the end consumer, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting. Radical Precision Engineering has incredibly skilled machinists and engineers in the team, and already I’ve been very impressed by the ongoing output to supply the advanced engineering services required to produce the engines that power the cars on track. It’s going to be an exciting challenge to offer this capability wider.”

Radical heads into its 25th year with updates for its iconic SR3 XX and popular SR10 models, and no less than 12 factory-supported racing championships across four different continents, including the Radical Challenge UK and the Radical Cup North America.

The UK-based Radical Sportscars team manufactures all models and engines for a global audience from its headquarters in Peterborough, UK, where it has been based since it was founded in 1997. More news will be announced of the upcoming 25th anniversary celebration events in the coming months.
