Radical SR1 Shootout Final Countdown

It’s the final countdown to the inaugural Radical SR1 Shootout at Rockingham Motor Speedway next week, 9th-10th October, where 50 contestants will go head-to-head to win one of the biggest prize funds in British motorsport worth over £45,000. One lucky winner will receive a fully funded season of racing in the six round, 12 race 2018 Radical SR1 Cup as an official Radical Works Team driver.

With the inaugural event fully subscribed, plus reserve stand-by drivers allocated, the SR1 Shootout class of 2017 are in for an action-packed day at the Northamptonshire circuit. Each contestant will be put through their paces through a series of high-level assessments including a Radical SR1 track test, front and rear-wheel drive skid pan session, simulator evaluation, fitness assessment provided by the Porsche Human Performance team, plus media evaluation.

A specialist team of sportscar racing stars, motorsport journalists and Radical management will select the ultimate all-round applicant to become a fully-fledged Radical Works Driver, on their way up the Radical racing ladder.

Panellists include Motorsport News Managing Editor, Rob Ladbrook; LMP3 UK Champion and SR1 graduate, Colin Noble Jnr; British GT Champion, FIA GT, British GT4 and Dubai 24 Hours race winner and Radical SR3 European Champion, Bradley Ellis; in addition to Radical Motorsport and Engineering Director, Alex Mortimer, and Radical Marketing Director, Nigel Land.

The first ever Radical SR1 Shootout winner will be announced on Wednesday 18th October.

The SR1 Cup offers the first step on the Radical prototype sportscar racing ladder. Since its 2012 launch it has become the UK’s fastest and most exciting entry-level series, with its proven five-year format delivering unrivalled track time, expert tuition and dedicated Radical support at every event.

For the 2018 season, the SR1 Cup will be open to all non-professional senior MSA licence holders, while retaining a novice class, providing the perfect platform for seasoned saloon car and single-seater racers, karting graduates and novices alike.
