The Radical Challenge Championship offers its racers a diverse, action-packed and affordable race weekend. The SR3 race car is the most widely produced and successful prototype style sportscar racing in the world today, with over 1000 sold.
Aimed at graduates from the SR1 Cup and drivers who are looking to carve out a career in sportscar racing, the 21-round series visits six different circuits with two 20-minute sprint races and a 40-minute endurance race – with mandatory pit stops and success penalties, offering an ideal development and race environment to new and experienced racers alike.
With a 0-60 time faster than you’ve been able to read this, 225bhp, a top speed just shy of 150mph plus grids regularly exceeding 30 cars, expect some fast and exciting racing.
Jack Lang currently leads the Solo Challenge points table after picking up three podium results at Spa Francorchamps last month, following that up with two more at Silverstone. Reigning Champion Steve Burgess isn’t letting him get away. Wins at Donington Park and Spa, as well as a handful of podiums, puts him 19 points behind.
Oliver Barker currently lies third. He picked up his first win of the year at Spa and a triple visit to the Silverstone podium means that he is only 20 points further back. Dominik Jackson has been playing the consistency game so far this season, collecting points just outside the podium. His first visit to the rostrum with third in the Silverstone endurance race cemented fourth in the title table.
Despite missing the double-points Spa weekend, Bradley Smith is currently fifth in the standings thanks to two race wins at Donington and a clean sweep at Silverstone. Radical Works team drivers Kristian Jeffery and Mark Crader are separated by just a single point for the final top six slot.
In the Team Challenge its Brian and Tom Harvey that have a commanding points lead. Adrian and Joe Watt are third but Peter Tyler and Tom Gladdis come into Rockingham on a roll after taking victory in the last race at Silverstone. Aaron and Lee Bailey missed the opening event at Donington but have scored well to put themselves fourth in the order.
Radical Challenge Championship kicks off at Rockingham with qualifying at 10:05 on Saturday, ahead of a jam-packed day of racing action.
